What is Drug Release Therapy?

Drug Release Therapy is a focused hypnotherapy pathway designed to resolve the underlying drivers of compulsive or dependent use (stress responses, trauma imprints, habit loops, identity beliefs), while installing new automatic patterns for calm, control and resilience. Rather than just managing urges, we target the subconscious programmes that power them — so change becomes easier and more sustainable.

Common areas I help with

  • Alcohol dependence or binge cycles

  • Prescription medications (e.g., codeine‑based painkillers, benzodiazepines) — with your prescriber’s oversight for any taper

  • Cannabis/hash, heroin or other street drugs

  • Cocaine, MDMA/ecstasy, ketamine, amphetamines, and similar commonly misused substances

  • Behavioural compulsions that cluster with substance use (sugar, gaming, porn, spending)

If you’ve tried to stop before and found yourself pulled back, this work helps remove the internal magnets — the learned associations, memory networks, and protective parts that keep the old pattern running.

Why this works

  • Subconscious re‑patterning: We access the level where triggers, cravings and automatic decisions fire — then update those patterns.

  • Trauma‑informed: Where trauma sits underneath, we process safely and gently without re‑traumatisation.

  • Identity & environment: We shift the story you hold about yourself and design supports that make the new pattern the easy pattern.

  • Fast but steady: Many clients report meaningful change from the very first session; the full protocol typically completes in six weeks.

The Drug Release Therapy Protocol

The full system behind the D.R.U.G. R.E.L.E.A.S.E. T.H.E.R.A.P.Y. method is designed to dissolve the emotional roots of dependency and rebuild identity from the inside out:

  • Dissolve Regrets & Resentment

  • Understand Guilt & Grief

  • Release & Reprogramme Emotional Learnings

  • Eliminate Anger, Anguish, Anxiety & Stress

  • Strengthen and Energise Positively【48†source】

This is achieved using proven tools from Hypnotherapy, NLP, Parts Therapy, Timeline Regression, Swish Patterns, Craving Collapse Techniques, and Self‑Hypnosis training. The goal is to help clients:

  • Break cravings at their root

  • Rebuild identity and empower the “clean self”

  • Install anchors for calm, confidence, and control

  • Build resilience and prevent relapse

Treatment Protocol

Treatment Protocol

Drug Release Therapy (DRT) follows a clear, structured pathway that helps clients break free from the emotional and subconscious drivers of dependency. Instead of simply suppressing cravings, we dissolve the root causes and rebuild identity from the inside out.

Step 1: Pre‑Treatment & Safety

Every programme begins with a confidential assessment, covering your history, current substance use, medical and mental health, and any risks (such as withdrawal or medication interactions). Where appropriate, I will collaborate with your GP or consultant to ensure safety.

Step 2: Stabilisation & Resource Building

In the first sessions, we establish calm and control. You’ll learn practical tools to reduce shame, ease anxiety, and stabilise your nervous system. We also map out the inner “parts” that drive old habits and begin giving them healthier roles.

Step 3: Emotional Release & Trauma Processing

Once you feel safe and resourced, we work on releasing the deeper roots of dependency. This may include forgiveness work, regression or timeline therapy, and re‑patterning subconscious responses so old triggers lose their power.

Step 4: Identity Repair

Here, we shift from “someone trying to stop” to “someone who simply doesn’t need the old pattern anymore.” Through self‑forgiveness and identity work, you begin to embody a healthier, freer version of yourself.

Step 5: Consolidation & Relapse Prevention

The final stage is about locking in change. We strengthen your future‑self identity, create a relapse‑prevention plan, and rehearse high‑risk situations so you feel confident and prepared.

Ongoing Support

Between sessions, you’ll practise simple daily techniques such as calm anchors, sleep resets, and urge‑tracking. Optional booster sessions are available to support long‑term success.

Medical Guidance

  • No advice on dosing is given in therapy. Any changes to prescribed medication must be planned with your prescriber. Hypnotherapy supports the mental/behavioural change while your doctor manages tapering and safety.

Safety & Medical Collaboration

  • I am Garda‑vetted to work with children and vulnerable adults.

  • Where prescribed medications are involved, I encourage a collaborative plan with your GP/consultant/pharmacist. We can time hypnotic change‑work to support the stages of any agreed medical taper.

  • You remain in control throughout; hypnosis is a natural, focused state — you’ll hear every word and can stop at any time.

Crisis: If you are at immediate risk of harm, contact emergency services or your local crisis line first. Therapy can continue once you are safe.

What you’ll gain

  • Fewer and weaker cravings; more space between trigger and choice

  • Calm body + clearer thinking during high‑risk moments

  • Tools to sleep, decompress, and regulate without substances

  • Repaired relationships — with others, and with yourself

  • A future‑self identity that simply doesn’t need the old pattern

Who I work with

I help adults across a spectrum — from high‑functioning professionals who want their edge back, to individuals rebuilding after crisis. Many clients also present with PTSD/CPTSD, anxiety, and low mood, which we address as part of the plan.

I offer online-only sessions so you can do the work from a place where you feel safest — your sofa, bed, or favourite armchair.

Community Work: Homeless Services in Dublin

Alongside my clinical practice, I have been actively involved with homeless services in Dublin, providing trauma‑informed support and practical guidance to people experiencing homelessness and complex needs. This work keeps my approach grounded, compassionate, and realistic — focused on safety, dignity, and small wins that compound into lasting change.
